Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc., makes sustainable choices accessible to its more than 6.4 million weekly customers by offering seafood from RSS-assessed businesses.
Robinsons bridges the gap between responsible business practices and consumer accessibility, bringing locally caught, sustainably sourced seafood to its more than 2,300 stores nationwide. Their commitment to environmental stewardship is reflected in their partnership with local seafood distributors that have been assessed with the Responsible Seafood Sourcing (RSS) Standard.
Since partnering with Better Seafood Philippines, Robinsons has recalibrated their supplier accreditation policies in 2023 to make sure that fish and fish products are sourced responsibly; empowering consumers to make informed choices about where they get their seafood.
Robinsons has catalyzed a crucial shift towards better traceability by integrating RSS criteria in the environmental, social, and governance questionnaires sent to their top 100 suppliers. This conscious accreditation of seafood vendors by a major company has led other industry peers to embrace transparency and environmentally conscious decision-making. In 2024, Robinsons hopes to add to their growing list of partner suppliers the early adopters of the RSS criteria such as Fishta Seafood, Agro-DogitalPH, and others.
Robinsons has been critical to making traceable seafood accessible to consumers and prompting private businesses to do the same. As one of the Philippines’ largest multiformat retailers, Robinsons exemplifies the transformative power of corporate leadership in advancing a more sustainable future.
