Marriott Hotel and Newport World Resorts have set a goal to advance Responsible Seafood Sourcing (RSS) in the Philippines by providing separate bidding process to responsibly produced products and benchmarking against the RSS Standard

Committed to creating a positive impact on the environment and the communities it serves, Marriott Hotel and Newport World Resorts have set a goal to advance Responsible Seafood Sourcing (RSS) in the Philippines. Through collaboration with USAID Fish Right and Better Seafood Philippines programs, the property is providing through a separate bidding process to responsibly produced products and has begun working with its seafood suppliers to adopt responsible sourcing practices by benchmarking against the RSS Standard.

Similarly, Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo’s partnership with Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources VI, USAID Fish Right, and Agro-Digital PH has strengthened seafood value chains and empowered fishing communities in Western Visayas. Courtyard now offers an assortment of locally and responsibly sourced seafood products, such as blue swimming crabs, red swimming crabs, squid, and reef fish, featured in its weekly “The Good Catch” buffet.

RSS aligns with Marriott’s broader Serve360 Program goals of reducing environmental impact, empowering local communities, and leading the way in sustainability. In ensuring that seafood is harvested in ways that protect marine ecosystems, preserve fish populations, and sustain fishers’ livelihoods, the Marriott brand is setting a new standard for responsible business in the hospitality industry
